• Actively listen and respond to residents
Many complain of a gap between local government and the city’s residents. Nadia Mustafa is running to bridge that gap. Nadia has seen firsthand that many residents feel ignored when they bring their concerns to City Hall. That’s why Nadia is committed to being responsive and accessible. No matter what the concern may be, Nadia will listen respectfully and work to come up with solutions.
• Keep traffic moving during construction
With so many construction projects, traffic can be a mess. Nadia favors putting in pedestrian walkways and widening access to local businesses. She will work with planners and her colleagues to improve traffic flow so we can all spend less time in our cars and walk safely on our streets. Nadia also believes construction projects should have clear end dates. Endless detours are time consuming and detract from our quality of life. That’s why Nadia will be an effective advocate at the state and federal level to ensure Bothell has the funds needed to finish projects in a timely manner.
• Enforce school zone laws
The safety of our children should always come first. Nadia favors emphasizing patrols during school zone hours. Those who violate school zone speed limits put kids at risk. It’s time to crack down.
• Bring new business to Bothell
Economic security can only be achieved if we have enough jobs for everyone who wants to work. Nadia will reach out to businesses and encourage them to locate in Bothell. Small businesses are most important, because most small business owners live in Bothell. When people and families are invested enough to live and create jobs in Bothell, our entire community benefits.
• Fiscal Responsibility
Nadia will demand accountability. Citizens deserve to know how every penny of their hard-earned tax dollars are spent. Performance audits, full accounting reviews, and oversight of projects are key to earning confidence. It’s our money. Let’s make sure it’s working for us.
• Keep Bothell’s Natural Beauty
Growth is necessary, and that growth needs to be responsible. Each tree removal project harms the natural beauty of Bothell and has negative consequences for our native wildlife. Nadia will do everything possible to limit the number of trees destroyed and will work to ensure all new projects have the least possible impact on our environment.
• Drug-Free Bothell
While voters legalized marijuana in the state of Washington, street drugs destroy the fabric of our lives. Nadia will work hard to make sure Bothell is drug-free through enforcement, education, and rehabilitation where appropriate.
